Vega

From 1999 to 2003 Scooby Snax were also performing and recording original material as members of the band 'Vega'. Here for 'the first time ever' are all the songs in mp3 format available for download.

What can you do for me?

Good enough

Once upon a time our friend Paul bought a bass guitar. This was a good enough excuse for us to form another band purely as an outlet for original material. Immediately Monday night became 'band night' at Berkley studios in Glasgow and we were soon auditioning drummers. We called ourselves 'Musky'. Eight drummers later we met Dougy Cadoo who was to complete the first line up.

King Tuts David

Live @ King Tuts 2000.

The first 18 months were a very busy and productive period. We got enough songs together to headlined King Tuts twice, performed an acoustic set for the short lived Go FM radio, George Bowie played Launch on the Radio, and David and I done an acoustic set on Lanarkshire TV. By this time I had been out voted and the name was changed from 'Musky' to 'Vega'.

Recording @ Riverside January 2001, Doug-less.

In January 2001 Dougy left to travel round the world. This was a massive blow to us at the time but we decided to role with it and get into the recording studio which cost us 600 between the 3 of us. That was a lot back then but it was worth it. We recorded a fantastic version of the song 'Weak' which we are still very proud of. In the same session we recorded a not so good version of 'Launch'. The actual version of 'Launch' & 'Docu' here for download were recorded live in a garage using some improvised recording techniques.

Feels like I'm in love

With new drummer Ali Strachan on board and a few new songs ready we featured on STV's noch'n gun shadal live music program in early 2003. Unfortunately on the night it was due to be broadcast George Bush invaded Iraq which screwed up the program schedule. It was broadcast a few weeks later but almost everyone missed it. Thanks to Colin McBurnie who managed to record it for us. It wasn't long after that we did our last gig in Bar Fly. The USA are still in Iraq though.
